Who Mr Ridge is · Read the full story · Frequently asked questions
Mr Ridge shifts Dominican Bouyon into an industry logic: production, awards, collaborations and export work. On the CMA side, he is the only winner of Bouyon Artist of the Year since the inaugural category: 2024, 2025, then 2026 in Port of Spain, at the first ceremony held in the Caribbean.
" 2024 with Pudaz / Dirty Dawg Pudaz, then the "Do Baby" + "She Stupid" 2025 double with 1T1, two singles that build a direct bridge between Dominica and Guadeloupe. Through Cross D Bridge, he gathers the Nasty Business voices of the island: Pudaz (crowned DMA 2025), Money Shaun, J-Lion, NICE, Sukie.
Alongside Nasty Business, he claims a second, softer sub-genre, "Love Bouyon", love and heartbreak themes. He produces, he sings, he carries the export project. In October 2025, his Big Bad Bouyon Festival programming in Miami confirms the international status.
He's not the only creator of Nasty Business, the eponymous August 2022 single is the reference, but he stays the award's only winner and the voice holding the scene together. In 2026, he follows up with "Blue Badness Riddim - EP" then "Blue Badness Riddim Bonus Tracks", still with Bajan Tube: the release rhythm keeps holding.
From Newtown to Riddim Tonight, a keyboard from his father
Mr Ridge, Coleridge Bell by civil name, Dominican from Newtown, starts music on a keyboard his father gave him: at 11 according to his own 2024 press release, at 13 according to Richès Karayib. He draws his influences from Dominican icons First Serenade, WCK, Belles Combo and Midnight Groovers. That lineage places him among Bouyon's foundations, WCK being the genre's matrix group, founded in Roseau in 1988. In 2018 he truly launches as a singer with "Riddim Tonight". The progression then settles in stages: "Come & Cocay" 2019, "Doh Call My Phone" 2020, "Je T'aime Dayleeway" 2021 with DJ Luchshiy, a first bridge toward Guadeloupe. Very quickly, he refuses to stay in one box: he sings, he produces, and he starts building his own ecosystem.
Three editions, three crowns at the Caribbean Music Awards
In 2024, Mr Ridge wins the very first Bouyon Artist of the Year at the Caribbean Music Awards, an inaugural category, and a signal that Bouyon now sits in the regional honours list. The following year, again in Brooklyn, he keeps the crown. That same year, "Do Baby" and "She Stupid" with 1T1 mark a double single bridging Dominica and Guadeloupe directly, two tracks, one tandem, two islands. "Summertime" 2023 with Admiral T had opened the export door earlier, and the booking at Miami's Big Bad Bouyon Festival in October 2025 confirms the international status. He ranks among the most-streamed Bouyon artists in the world. And the run goes on: on September 19, 2026 in Port of Spain, at the first ceremony held in the Caribbean, he wins a third time. Eight artists from Dominica competed in the Bouyon categories; he remains the only name on the award's honours list.
Cross D Bridge and the Nasty Business federator
Around Mr Ridge, through Cross D Bridge, revolve Money Shaun, J-Lion, NICE, Sukie, Pudaz, Dirty Dawg Pudaz and 1T1. That mesh makes him a federator of the island's Nasty Business voices. "Chiney Wine" 2022 with Zaga and Elim Yen, "OG Wet Fest" 2023 with Matieu White, "B.D.Y.M.M." 2024 with Pudaz and Dirty Dawg Pudaz, "Push Ur Hand In Your" 2022 with Dova, Kenny G and Pudaz, "Fym" 2025 with Problem Child, every release widens the mesh. He's not the only creator of Nasty Business, the August 2022 single of the same name is the reference. But he becomes the voice holding the scene together: artist, producer, boss of the Cross D Bridge label. His declared goal, carrying Bouyon onto the world stage, moves forward release after release since 2018: three-time Bouyon Artist of the Year at the Caribbean Music Awards, and running his own label.
