Quan

The Someone Else trio and the CMA win in 2025

Quan, sometimes credited Quan Dan or The Quan, is part of the Dominican trio that takes Soca Collaboration of the Year at the Caribbean Music Awards 2025 with "Someone Else", a single released in July 2024 alongside Little Boy and Trilla-G. The context of that win matters: beating Kes, Patrice Roberts and Skinny Fabulous, three major names of regional soca, means writing Dominican bouyon into a list of winners until then dominated by soca artists from Trinidad and Grenada. For the Dominican scene, "Someone Else" becomes a marker: a July 2024 single that, six months later, is crowned collaboration of the year in a category where bouyon had been peripheral. Before that win, "Bouyon Stars" and "Bamboo" in 2023 had already connected Quan to DJ Taffy's productions.

The Little Boy tandem and the album Smooth & Easy Party Mix

The most stable partnership in the Quan catalogue is with Little Boy. January 2025 brings the collaborative album "Smooth & Easy Party Mix", which formalises that tandem as a long project rather than a one-off feature. Around that base, the singles stack up: "Leaving" in 2024, "Late Night" in 2025 with DJ Taffy and Edday, "I Don't Care" in 2025 with DJ Taffy, "Your Friend" in 2025 with Freddy, "Forever" in 2025 with Freddy, Gwada G and Trixx, and "Shake Your" in 2026 with Real Reel. Across those seven releases, Little Boy is credited every time, a collaboration pattern rare on this scene, making the duo one of the most active of the 2024-2026 cycle. DJ Taffy's regular presence on production reinforces the Dominican pole of that core, and Quan's place as a structural voice of platform-era Nasty Business.

The bouyon-soca crossover scene and the 2025-2026 mesh

Quan's genre tagging swings between bouyon and bouyon-soca, which matches exactly the crossing zone where regional soca and Dominican bouyon have met since the "Someone Else" win. That hybridisation shows in the mesh of features: Freddy, Gwada G, Trixx, Real Reel, names that all move between the two scenes. Quan holds a specific place (Chapters IX and XII): an artist whose CMA run marks the moment bouyon enters the scope of regional soca awards, and Dominica gains institutional visibility in a neighbouring genre. The 2023-2026 mesh totals eleven documented releases, ten of them featuring Little Boy, a loyalty pattern between production and voice that sets Quan apart on the Dominican scene and draws a stable duo onto which DJ Taffy, Edday and Freddy regularly graft themselves.
