A room lined with acoustic panels, an air conditioner on the wall, microphones hanging over the drums. On Tuesday, Drummer Fridge sits behind the kit for a "test run" with Pudaz: a rehearsal, a little more than two weeks before the World Creole Music Festival.
The date is set. The Dominican bouyon artist plays Friday, October 23, the first of the festival's three nights at Windsor Park Sports Stadium. That night's bill also brings together Capleton, Skillibeng, Klass, Midnight Groovers and Ridge.
Pudaz reaches the festival at the end of a busy season. In late June, the 2026 Caribbean Music Awards nominate Pudaz twice: Bouyon Artist of the Year, and Bouyon Song of the Year for "Shake Something". In September, in Trinidad and Tobago, the bouyon artist of the year award goes to Ridge, and the song award to "Bouwéy" by 1T1 and Theomaa.
On October 23, Pudaz and Ridge share the same stage, in front of their home crowd.
