Ridge, three-time Bouyon Artist of the Year
On Saturday in Port of Spain, Ridge wins Bouyon Artist of the Year for the third time, at every edition since the award was created in 2024.
Saturday night in Port of Spain, Ridge wins Bouyon Artist of the Year. Khallion, another nominee from Dominica, celebrates for him. At least, he says, the award stays home.
The Caribbean Music Awards create the category in 2024. Ridge wins it that year in Brooklyn. He keeps it in 2025, at the same venue, then again on Saturday.
Ridge starts music on a keyboard his father gave him. In 2018, he steps up to the mic with "Riddim Tonight". Today he produces, from bouyon to zouk, from soca to kompa.
For their fourth edition, the Caribbean Music Awards leave the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn for the National Academy for the Performing Arts in Port of Spain, their first ceremony in the Caribbean. Eight artists from Dominica compete in the Bouyon categories.
The same night, 1T1 and Theomaa, from Guadeloupe, win Bouyon Song of the Year with "Bouwéy" and French Caribbean Song of the Year with "Ouba". Ridge and 1T1 share two singles, "Do Baby" and "She Stupid". "If we can unite the islands through culture and music, we'll be unstoppable," Ridge says in 2025.
