Under strings of bunting, a truck turned into a stage moves slowly through the crowd. On the roof, between the speakers and the scaffolding, the musicians of Triple Kay International play. A "TK International" banner hangs on its side. Down below, the street follows.
On Wednesday, November 4, after nightfall, Dominica holds its Independence street jump-up. Further on, the procession moves along a wide avenue lit by street lamps, between white tents. Signal Band also hits the road that same night.
Triple Kay International is born in Laudat in the late 1990s. It starts with young musicians tapping rhythms on school desks and singing in church choirs. The band celebrates 25 years in 2025. This week, the band goes from the Fete Lapwent 2026 stage to the Independence street.
