Two chairs side by side, in front of a wooden door. On the left, Pierre-Édouard Décimus, a founding member of Kassav'. On the right, 1T1, songwriter, composer and co-founder of the KMR Héritage label. Décimus says he is happy to be next to the school where he did his early primary years.
"La Chaise" comes out on October 18, signed by KMR Héritage and the Kol'Art studio: two minutes of conversation about passing things on. Décimus says he sees in 1T1 an artist loyal to his own generation, who has also listened to what came before him. 1T1 answers: "Yes, my style is more Caribbean." Later, Décimus says: "History divided us", but 1T1's generation and the one after it "ké réparé tou sa" (will fix all that). He says he is not afraid of this generation at all.
The Kassav' story begins in 1979 with Pierre-Édouard Décimus, then a professional musician in the Vikings de la Guadeloupe orchestra. In 2009, the band celebrates its 30 years at the Stade de France, before 65,000 people.
On stage, 1T1 has four announced nights in France: Saturday, October 24 at the Empire Night Club in Trégueux, Friday, November 6 at the Pop Art Club in Bordeaux, Saturday, November 7 at the Florida Palace in Marseille, and Tuesday, November 10, the eve of a public holiday, at the Paradise night in Toulouse.
