Nasty Business

Dark current of modern Dominican Bouyon, launched by Mr Ridge's eponymous single (August 24, 2022) and carried by the voices gathered around Cross D Bridge.

Definition

Nasty Business is a dark current of modern Dominican Bouyon. Its starting point is the reference: Mr Ridge's eponymous single, posted to YouTube on August 24, 2022. Mr Ridge is not the current's only creator — that August 2022 single is what serves as the landmark — but he remains the voice holding the scene together, the only Bouyon artist doubly crowned at the CMA (2024 and 2025).

The scene and the voices

Around Mr Ridge and his Cross D Bridge project gather the Nasty Business voices of Dominica: Pudaz (crowned DMA 2025), Money Shaun, J-Lion, NICE and Sukie. On the studio side, Tha Wizzard and his WizZarD HouSe Records structure form a pillar of the circuit — mix, mastering and production for the scene. His role is central, yet distinct from the creation of the current: no public document shows him claiming paternity of Nasty Business.

Boundaries

Within the Bouyon map, Nasty Business stands apart from modern hardcore Bouyon as well as from bouyon-muffin: with the latter, the two approaches run in parallel, with no direct continuation. And the category has its limits, set by chapter XII: not everything is Nasty Business because it sounds dark — sub-forms exist to help understanding, not to inflate tags.
