Definition
Killa, real name Kendel Laurent, is the founder, keyboardist, producer and musical architect of Triple Kay International. His first public trace as a band member is documented at the formation in 2000. He is one of the figures who define modern Bouyon beyond the WCK laboratory frame: his role is to think the band form that can hold the carnival arena — stable rehearsal, division of roles, reproducible sonic architecture.
In the internal editorial pitch, Killa is described as "the voice of strategy" of modern Bouyon. That qualification points less to a personal posture than to a function: he is the musician who thinks Bouyon as an exportable system, not only as spontaneous energy.
The keyboard and the production
Inside Triple Kay, Killa holds the keyboard-architect position. He is the one programming the rhythmic and harmonic base over which Benji, Tazzy and Sweet Ticky's voices land. This explicit division (one keyboard-architect + multiple lead voices + a rhythm section) is the structural signature of the modern band, and it differs from WCK which operated on a tighter five-musician core.
Killa is also publicly documented in 2021 as the voice who forced the Bouyon attribution of the track Family (Bunji Garlin × Machel Montano × Skinny Fabulous, produced by Dominican Dad Lawrence) — initially credited as Soca, and reclassified Bouyon after his intervention. That anecdote, outside the 2000-2010 period but useful to understand Killa's role in public memory of the genre, is documented in the internal editorial pitch.
